 A Personal Invitation

Beloved, you’ve arrived here for a reason, and I honor that. Whether you are aching, awakening, unraveling, or simply yearning for more softness in your life, know this: you are not too much, too tender, or too late. Your grief, your joy, your sacred rage, your longing, they all belong.

This is your invitation to come home to your body. To move with it, breathe with it, listen to it. Here, we do not bypass pain, we honor it. We do not chase healing, we embody it.

In this space, you will be held. Not as someone to be fixed, but as someone worthy of being witnessed, fully, sensually, and truthfully.

My Bio

A Journey Rooted in Feeling

I am Bernadette Pleasant, a somatic healer, grief educator, and end of life doula devoted to guiding people toward emotional freedom through movement, ritual, and rest. I am also the founder and CEO of The Emotional Institute, a space where healing is embodied and rest is treated as sacred.

For more than two decades, I have helped individuals and communities release emotional pain, reclaim joy, and find peace within their bodies. My work is informed by ancestral practices, somatic awareness, and a deep respect for the intelligence of emotion.

In 2023, I paused years of continuous movement to care for my mother as she journeyed through pancreatic cancer. When she passed on September first of that year, I found myself learning from grief in a new way. I discovered that rest is not a reward but a form of reverence. It became a teacher that guided me back to my body, to gratitude, and to grace.

That experience reshaped everything. It deepened my commitment to create spaces where others could be held through their own cycles of loss, renewal, and rest. I understood that grief is not something to move past, it is something to move with. It is love in motion.

I have trained more than one hundred facilitators worldwide to carry forward The Emotional Tour and other body-centered healing practices. Through these leaders, the work continues to ripple outward, touching hearts and communities across the globe.

Whether in a private session, a community ritual, or a large gathering, my intention is the same. I want every person to feel seen, heard, and held. I want people to remember that there is nothing wrong with feeling deeply. The world becomes softer when we honor our emotions instead of hiding them.

My mantra

“When we honor our grief, we honor our love.”

 Coming Home to the Body

I created The Emotional Institute to be a home for this work and a refuge for those who are ready to stop holding everything in. Here, we practice feeling. We breathe together. We rest together. We grieve and celebrate together.

If you have found your way here, I believe it is for a reason. May this be your invitation to come home to your body, to your emotions, and to your own sacred rhythm of becoming.
